Amazing Indian restaurant, we’re from the UK and came as a group of 4 for dinner and had an amazing time. The amount of options there and the quality of every thing we had was fantastic. I had the butter chicken and the lamb madras with Garlic Naans and it was fantastic, hugely recommend them, flavours on point and the spice was not overpowering. Service was great, the waitresses also answered all our questions on nightlife recommendations and gave us some great places to go to after. 5/5

Dinner at this place was a key highlight of our Budapest trip! Classy atmosphere, warm service and amazing food. The food is as authentic as it gets, just like what you would get in India. We had Samosa Chaat, Brinjal Bartha, Butter Naan and Chicken Biriyani. Hands down the best Indian restaurant in Europe! We even got finger bowls at the end, felt like we were transported to India, home!
Terrific Indian Restaurant slightly off the beaten track
Excellent Indian restaurant. Really great decor, wide spaces between tables, great service and staff in Indian dress. Great atmosphere and lots of Indian customers which is usually a good sign the food is good. We had the assorted starters as sharing plates with pappadams. These were beautifully presented . As well as the usual onion bhajis and tikkas , there were a couple of different things you normally don’t see a horn of minced chicken and a deep fried spinach wheel with cheese that were great. These came with a hot mint and coriander dip. For main courses we had Tawa Lamb, chicken vindaloo, Karahi Fish and Chicken methi with a Dal side dish. There was plenty of food and the nan breads were massive. Highly recommend the Keema Nan.
The service was also great too! All four of us left full.
The service was impressive. The entire vibe and aesthetic was very Indian but what I loved the most was the tv screen showing glimpses of different Indian cities. The food was just 🤌. The best thing, complete 5 star worthy, was the saffron lassi. We had to repeat that order it was delicious.

Easily the best indian in Budapest
Tried this place over a decade ago for the first time with some work colleagues from India, who said it was like eating at home (Chennai). Since then returned time to time whenever visiting Budapest, and it never disappointed. Very tasty, properly spiced, well prepared dishes.
Now living in Budapest we tried some other places which were closer to us, but all of them are a disappointment (some hugely) compared to Taj Mahal.

I have also tried several Indian restaurants in Budapest, and nothing compares to here. The chicken corma for example is the most flavourful. The lamb in the dishes is soft and flavourful. The butter naan is exceptional, and also deserves high praise. The starters are delicious and are just enough.

An incredible tasty food in a very lovely place. The welcome is perfect. We ate a butter and a korma chicken. How delicious it was! And I highly recommend their missi roti (indian butter bread close to a parotha one) which is amazing!!! If you like Indian food, you cannot be disappointeg going there!

Arrived Budapest late in the evening. We were hungry... After a quick look around, we found Taj Mahal and enter the door aroun 22PM.

Great staff with very tasty food. 3 of us went for a meal on Saturday night: The place was busy. We had Prawns tikka, seek kebab, chicken wings for starters. These were all cooked to perfection and had the right level of spice.
For mains we had lamb Bhuna - this was tasty and the lamb was soft.
Paneer Makhni, very nice.
Chicken Vindaloo, this was nice but not as hot as we would like.
All in all great food, nice place would certainly suggest trying it out.

I’ll be honest, I had no idea what to expect as an Indian myself, finding good Indian restaurants is rare but I was blown away here.
Firstly the service was outstanding, the waitresses were very welcoming and polite. The food was really tasty, we got the aloo papri chaat for starters which was spicy and amazing.
For the mains we had butter chicken which was so creamy and mushroom masala- didn’t expect this dish to be creamy so it wasn’t perfect but still nice alternative to butter chicken.
What a wonderful treat in Budapest! Food was delicious and spicy. Service was great and the atmosphere was comfortable and elegant. Dinner was served on a beautiful cart and kept warm over tea lights. The decor in the restaurant is thoughtfully curated as well. Highly recommend this spot if you are looking for a break from local cuisine.
We suggest the chicken madras and the palak paneer! We also enjoyed the grilled prawn and lamb tikkas.

It's our second time that we eat in this Indian restaurant (the previous one was 3 years ago). It has the same high quality. The food is very good, but if you don't want spicy food - you should say it in advance (and it's still a little bit spicy). The Samosa and the garlic Naan are great, as well as the main meat dishes. We ordered one main dish with Salmon, which has not so much fish. The rice is not included in the main dish. The Lasi drink is quiet small. The prices are quiet high for Budapest, but they are OK according to the high quality and service. We arrived late for the lunch, so there were only few people.

Food - We ordered appetizers with chicken, several kinds of dosa, biryani, naans and few vegetarian dishes. Everything came out perfect, and we were reminded of India with every bite. Have not come across over any better Indian restaurant during our travels in 4 continents.

The best Indian restaurant in Europe. I became a fan of their saffron lassi. We ordered Dal makhani and paneer butter masala in vegetarian with Indian spicy level. The taste was so good that we didn't even feel for once that we were not in India. The staff even though local was so polite and kind. I really recommend this restaurant. If you are planning to visit Budapest, do keep this one in your options.

I am currently in Budapest on a business trip with some Indian colleagues (we all come from the USA).
One of my colleagues wanted to have Indian vegetarian cuisine and this is the reason we ended up at Taj Mahal.
I'm working for an Indian company for the past 15 years (I have been many times to India) and had a ton of really great Indian food in my life, but I have to admit that the Chicken Tikka Masala they made was truly spectacular. The gravy was out of this world and my Indian colleagues were all very impressed with the quality and taste at this restaurant (we had 2 vegetarian and three meat dishes).

Great selection of dishes, and plenty of vegetarian options. Food was generous and flavorful. The ambiance was pretty good, and the staff wete helpful and gave us some good pointers on what to get. Perhaps the most surprising was the indian cocktail selection, which I can definitely recommend. Worth the visit and good price value.
This is one of the best places to get Indian Food in Budapest! The ambiance of the restaurant is authentic; from the furniture to the paintings and cutlery, they all have an indian touch to them. I cannot count the number of times I have had takeout from this place; the food is that good. The food is a bit pricey but its worth it.
Recommendations: Dal Tarka, Dal Makhani, Laccha Parantha, Masala/Paneer Dosa (one of the few places in Budapest where you’ll get Dosa), Mango/Sweet Lassi. For the people who like crazy hot stuff: Paneer 65 (this was my favourite).

Over the 12 years I have been going regularly to this restaurant I was never disappointed. The service, ambient and on top of everything, the taste and mix of flavours of the first class food that gets out of their kitchen, fitted with two tandoors and a bunch of professional Indian cooks, makes this choice perfect to enjoy the flavours of India.
